The next day we took the same boat (worst idea ever to save $5! because it took 2 hours longer than the speedy boats!) to the west side of the island to snorkel over the coral. It was amazing. After I went around for awhile I pulled Charles alongside me so he could see what was happening in the coral. After we were finished swimming along, and he was on the boat, he looked at me and said, "Wow. God truly exists." It took my breath away. Can you imagine? Coming from a land where life is a battle everyday, you don't know how to swim, and you come along to Zanzibar only to realize there is a whole new world under the ocean (which you are seeing for the first time). Helping him snorkel was a highlight of the trip for sure. And, of course, it was humbling for me to be swimming over the coral/fish as well. The island you see in the background is supposedly Bill Gates' private island. Not too shabby! We couldn't get within a certain perimeter. After the snorkeling we went to the beach back on Zanzibar and had lunch.
