FORT LAUDERDALE!! (part 1)

Beach here we come! After a year+ of planning Boston roommate Vanessa's hard work came to fruition at her June 24th wedding. It took place in Fort Lauderdale, beginning at Saint Sebastian Church with reception that followed at The Ritz Carlton on the beach. I was thrilled that Korey was able to make the trip. We turned it into quite the excellent get-away! It was Korey's first time at the beach!! He loved it, and as he said, "I had no idea someone could drown in 2 foot waves." He just needed to get his "ducking" time down. Here are the pics, yeah, there are a lot :)
Anxious to get Korey to the beach, we arrived at the airport at 4:30 PM Thursday, hopped into our rental car (starving) and sped away to Las Olas Blvd. an old downtown Blvd. built along the canals with lots of restaurants and shops. The plane ride sucked- 4.5 hrs stuck in the last row- the plane was changed to a smaller one which meant that our original seats in the middle were very last :( too bad b/c we had been planning on sleeping the whole way. Unfortunately that meant no reclining and having everyone waiting for the bathroom. Whatevs. We managed. We gorged ourselves on happy hour appetizers that were to die for and then took the waiters advice to stroll to the beach. Anxious to stretch our legs and get to the water- we embarked on the walk. However, it was a mirage. . . it was more of a 4 mile walk not the 6 blocks that the waiter explained :) Korey was SOOO happy with me :) But we made it!! And took a taxi back to the Blvd. for dinner and to get the car.
Are we there yet?
Not even close. Oops!
MADE IT!!
Friday morning we went to Trina for breakfast at The Atlantic hotel right on the beach. I had read about it as a "must do" in Ft. Lauderdale. The banana-candied macadamia nut pancakes were indeed divine. Korey liked his custard infused french toast, but I was not a fan. We laughed about our beach body regime :)

strategically positioned with wind blowing my hair back. Luckily Korey is unaffected by the wind :)
We stayed at The Doubletree Suites-- it was a great deal on Hotwire (just can't get enough of that website! they need to pay me to be their spokesperson!) We had the canal view
I don't know... seems kind of cramped ...jk

The drawbridge we overlooked. Just a quick walk over the bridge to the beach!
