Following a crazy weekend of work and Murder Mystery dinner hosting, I had a visitor from Human Rights Watch come to visit. I invited Cormac and Anna over to join in the chat, as they are more knowledgeable about some of the issues and the region. It was a good networking dinner. I was a bit stressed to get dinner ready in 40 minutes after coming home from the field. Curry turned out great, but my first take at hummus was not awesome. Made rice with golden raisins and saffron. Had the idea to flash fry some cashews with oil and chili powder. As soon as the visitor arrived I went to welcome her and smelled right away the burning in the kitchen. Had to race the pan straight outside, leaving a trace of pepper in the air for a good 5 minutes. Was the most akward moment for everyone. We could barely breathe or talk without coughing!! Dang it anyways!!
