Cambodia Day 2 Continued: Murky waters lead to a floating village

After a lunch siesta in a hammock--they literally have restaurants with open wall hammock rooms attached! It was back to the trike to race to the other side of Siem Reap to take a boat out to see the Floating Village.

Looking down at the boats/dock

Getting in our private ride.

The young boy helps us shove off

The tourists take leave

Still pushing as the lightning strikes in the distance

Pedal and steering contraption

Boat party of 1 :)

Banks- Family on motorcycle whiz by. Loved the sky behind them. It was dry season, otherwise the water would be up to the bank.

A common site, ice being delivered by the block

A boy and his bike head home

Floating store along the banks on the way

Boat getting repaired

the spikes on the left (blue) are cemetery posts! This cemetery is underwater most of the year!

Skies start to really make me nervous- pics don't do it justice. . .

Luckily there were others on the water too. The boy "mans" the motor

Finally about 30 minutes in, the banks part and the large lake appears

There's the village!

Typical structure

house

Shops for tourists to get a drink and photo-op. We got out and to my surprise there were alligator cages!

Everything in this village is floating! Church, clinic, schools.

Passing sign- there was even one for speed!

Back on land, our trike had readied himself with the rain gear for a wet ride home :)
