Making some Maui memories :)

Went to Ali'i Kula Lavendar farm on Saturday after mom's recommendation. It was spectacular!  We actually started the day at the beach doing some yoga and a light jog while Nick was at his basketball game. We then took off for heading up the crater mountain and stopped at La Provence for eggs benedict and a view of both sides of the island! We continued up a bit further and for $2 had entrance to the lavender farms. The gardens weave over the steep hillside and you walk along the paths looking at varieties of lavender and tropical flowers and statues. Everything was accented by purple furniture and railings. Love purple! Reminds me of the wall I painted back in phx.

Nick and Nicki enjoy the view

Free lavender tea if you bring your own mug :-)

Heaps of lavender plants

Nick and Nicki's good friend lives just beyond the garden edge in a yurt!

Last week Nick took me on a hike on the ridge walk- just a few minutes away from his house! First we went to a spiritual site that is tucked away in the land overlooking the ocean.

Then we started the walk up the hillside! It was steep!

Look a bit closely-- you can see the waterfalls!

Mom's xmas gift to Nick and Nicki- a cute chalkboard with something to write on daily. . .

Beach time sunset overlooking the whales-- thousands of humpback whales migrate into the area because of a safe cove in Maui's waters. You can spot spouts, tail slaps, and jumps! We saw a whale SO close this night. Closer than a hundred yards from the shoreline. Just slowly swimming along. We watched it skim the surface for about 20 minutes. Turned out there were two. Nicki guesses it may have  been a female nursing a calf. Makes sense.
