Ok, so I am not a football fan. However, I am a sucker for sentimental traditions like game watching days filled with food and family. Walking from the T yesterday a fellow student remarked, "Emily, you realize that there are as many people at Fletcher from Nebraska as there are from Ethiopia right?" Ha, so very very true. As I thought about this, my knee jerk reaction was well there is certainly nobody here from Iowa! But jokes aside, I am a Husker at heart. There is something unique, and I dare to say even sacred, about coming from the Midwest. Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, even if it means I have to pay as much for a ticket home for Thanksgiving than I would for a ticket to Europe. But, for sure, this Thanksgiving vacay I will be investing in some Husker red (finally). When showing off pictures of my fam to a friend she couldn't believe that everyone has Huskers gear. Having served in Afghanistan with a British Provincial Reconstruction Team, she thought it was just her friend Ryan that had this bizarre affection to the Huskers. In honor of him and all of the troops (from Nebraska or quasi-Nebraska like this guy) thank you for all you sacrifice.
