Well it was an eventful weekend to say the least! Actually, the fun began on Thursday night, when our Econ Theory class decided to "celebrate" the mid term. I say celebrate, b/c really I was just working hard to forget it!! That said, it was good to go out and mingle. There was a pub crawl... I made it to the first two bars and then joined my roommates back at the house for some roomie bonding and pumpkin carving. By the time I got home most of the pumpkin seeds were baked (delightful!) and the house had been transformed into a spider web! Not sure whose idea it was to get me to carve the last pumpkin, since I was the one drinking, but nevertheless it made for a funny pumpkin. (mine is on the right)
Friday morning started "bright and early" with a 9am Professional Development lecture by a career coach getting paid way too much to tell us what clothes to wear to an interview and how to network, network, network. Went shopping with roomie Natalie the rest of the day all over Boston. We were in search of Halloween costumes for the party Vanessa was having at the house that night. I decided to be Kim from the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Here is what she looks like, and then there is me below- looking scarily like a male in a woman's wig! Yikes. Oh yes and I am standing next to Hamid Karzai, pres. of Afghanistan...

please note the huge fake nails and yes ppl, water in the glass :)
Ok so after the fiesta (great party Vanessa) which went on till 5 in the morning... but I snuck to my room at around 2... I went to the Boston GuluWalk with some old friends.
Beth T. I met while volunteering with Uganda Conflict Action Network. Beth and I did the same program in Africa, and stayed with the same host family! Then she helped me with the Ohio GuluWalk in undergrad. As luck would have it, we both moved to DC and now we are both in Boston. Friday she interviews at Fletcher. Crazy small world! Anyways, we all caught up over coffee, but we missed the event. Oops!
Next was Mediterranean Night at school. There were performances by students, and highlights included the MC who cracked a joke before the Israeli dance group took stage... "You know, you don't want to like Israel (says to a girl), they never pull out when they say they will!"
Afterwards there were parties, and great fun was had. I wore a hot new dress, which I found shopping with Natalie. Here is me being a goof and trying to get a picture of the back of the dress and then a photo of me and my newest friends, Raul, Ida and Megan.

So SUNDAY...
roomies had a bbq, but I had to TRY and study. Then I got way lucky and was able to snatch up a ticket to the interactive theatre production "Sleep No More" by the British production group Punch Drunk. It was a crazy, intense event where they overlap Hitchcock with MacBeth. They converted an old school into 4 floors of outrageously detailed sets. As you arrive to the main entrance you are escorted to a waiting lounge where a 50's band was playing and the mood was set. Soon groups were being called to start the show, we each started at different times. The actors are all amazing dancers and never really talk. It is choreographed so that different stories are taking place all the time, in different rooms. What happens is is participants wear masks and you follow actors you are interested in as they weave their way through rooms, run up and down the stairs, hide, etc. It was so fun!

wow, Em you had some weekend. I saw the pictures of the dress on FB but since they weren't your pictures, I couldn't tell you how awesome the dress is!
