US Army trash= Expat Treasure!!

The US Civil-Affairs team left last week from Moroto. This was the friendliest team I have been told by the expats. Never before had the teams been so outgoing in the community! I can see in the new team already that only one really understands that this is not an army mission in the sense they are used to. Too bad.  I went to dinner with the new team, and there were no cringe moments, but I did leave pissed that not one person asked me a question and I of course was peppering them and showing interest. Ugh. Table manners go a long way. Speaking of tables. . . this team decided to clean house and emptied their team room of its supply of loot!! Seriously they delivered about 15 trash bags full to the brim to people's houses. That doesn't even include the clothing & other items donated to the locals. Over time, the teams have collected the things they receive from US donors (support our troops packages), their own families/friends, and then things they pick up in Kampala. I made a store on my table and over the week neighbors came and selected what they wanted. Score!
The loot!! Store :-)
yes, do you see the strawberries in a can? those are from china!! lol sorry brothers, but i was excited for the huge box of tampons! can't get that in this country! the soldiers had one female and none this time

can't wait for the caribou coffee!! sadly the campbell's soup is microwave only :(  sorry soldiers, no microwaves for the ngo workers lol
enough tea and hot chocolate for a lifetime!
Starbucks?!! I let the neighbor have them . . . felt guilty keeping everything.

the prized possession went to Cormac- a ham dated to expire in 2017! :-)
