Rhode Island, I love ya!

Spur of the moment-- Friday afternoon in class I decide, I gotta split town. So, pull a Nicki Kane (my bros gf who got us the amazing Chicago hotel) and went on hotwire and put in Rhode Island. Boom, 4 stars, and a leap of faith, I put part of my tax return towards this gem on Goat's Island, Rhode Island!!:

I have never been to Rhode Island, and I have always wanted to see if it would be like what I imagined as a kid. It was! I arrived at about 11:00 Friday night, and was wowed by my room with a view of the bridge over the water which is beautiful at night. When I asked the guy at the front desk if there was a free breakfast-- he smiled, and said no, but he would hook me up. HA! Free coupon for the $24 brunch. Worth the trip in itself. :) So, off to my ship-inspired room for a great night of sleep with the latest US Weekly.

Turns out, the island of Newport has some fabulous mansions... and so after breakfast, in the balmy 70 degree weather I hopped into the car and took Bellevue  and Ocean Drive which wrap around Newport.

Then off to my next adventure! I reserved a rental bike in Providence and took on the East Bay Bike Path. Check out the path:

cute little gate
talk about a trail!
cutest house! I looked left to check for traffic and that red door caught my eye

this was taken by a 10 year old who had a lemonade stand !

Historic actors? It was weird... and yeah, I took a pic

Just a little house on the water.

Made it home in one hour... happy as could be. :)
